League changes force cancellation of two games

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks regretfully announce that two games in the month of October have been cancelled.

On September 20th, the Winterhawks and the other W.O.A.A. Sr. Hockey League teams were informed the Mapleton-Minto 81’s have opted to withdraw from the league for the 2017/18 season, in order to restructure their organization.

As a result, the October 14th home game and October 28th away game against Mapleton-Minto have been cancelled.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our fans and sponsors.

“Win or lose, we’ve had great battles with Mapleton-Minto over the years,” said Winterhawks President Gord Lamont. “We wish them the best as they work toward getting back on the ice next year.”

The league has told the 13 remaining teams that a revised schedule will be produced, ensuring that all teams will still play a 20-game regular season.

We will pass along our revised schedule as soon as it is finalized.

The Winterhawks begin their season on the road in Kincardine against the Ripley Wolves on October 7th.
