Josh Hopkin had a five-point night as part of a 10-goal outburst by the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks on Saturday night in Lucknow.
Hopkin had a goal and four assists, while Bryan Kazarian, Miles MacLean and Andy Fracz each had four points in the Winterhawks 10-1 win over the Lucknow Lancers.
MacLean opened the scoring just 51-seconds into the contest, beating Lucknow netminder Ben Nelson, with an assist to Hopkin.
James McHaig would score his first of two on the night at 17:49, with assists to Chris King and Jay Thomson.
Winterhawks netminder Matt Tutin turned away nine Lucknow shots in the opening frame.
The Winterhawks would blow the game wide open in the 2nd period, starting with Fracz making it 3-0 at the 2:50 mark, with Kazarian assisting.
McHaig would make it 4-0 at 8:11, followed by MacLean, then Kazarian capped off a run of three goals in 57-seconds to make it 6-0 Winterhawks, chasing Nelson from the Lucknow net.
Lucknow would get on the board thanks to Nic Gowing a minute later, but the Winterhawks continued the onslaught, with Kazarian scoring his second of the night at 11:22 to make it 7-1 Winterhawks.
Kazarian would cap off the hat-trick at 18:40 of the 2nd, beating backup goaltender Nathan Watson to make it a six-goal period for the visitors, making it an 8-1 game after two periods.
Hopkin and MacLean would add third period goals as the Winterhawks cruised to the 10-1 win, outshooting Lucknow 37-29.
Tutin picked up the win in goal, improving his personal record to 2-1-0 on the season.
The Winterhawks will be back in action next Friday night, Dec. 22nd, when they return home to The Plex to face the Durham Thundercats at 8:30 p.m.
