Hawks fall in Seaforth
A weekend to forget for the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks, who dropped a 4-1 road decision to the Seaforth Centenaires on Saturday night.

While a slow start put the Winterhawks in a big hole early against Minto the previous night, the Hawks struck first just over five minutes into the game on a goal by Justin Donnelly, assisted by Mitch Borden and Michael Johnstone.

Seaforth evened things up at 15:11 of the 1st, as Brady Wiffen put a laser beam past Winterhawks starter Eric Peicheff, making it a 1-1 game.

Penalty trouble followed shortly after, when Josh Hopkin for slashing, followed by Peicheff taking a delay of game penalty.

The resulting five-on-three gave Seaforth the lead at 18:11, with Wiffen's second of the night getting past Peicheff.

Seaforth again struck on the power play in the second period after Johnstone was whistled for tripping, extending the Centenaires lead to 3-1.

While Seaforth clicked with the extra man, the Winterhawks did not, despite a lengthy opportunity at the end of the second period and the beginning of the third.

Blake Pickering added an empty netter for Seaforth to make it a 4-1 final.

With two losses with this weekend, the Winterhawks drop to 5-3-1 on the season and will have an extra week to regroup.

They return to the ice on Friday November 26th, when the Shelburne Muskies visit The Plex at 8:30 p.m.
