Comeback in Creemore
The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks pulled one out of the fire on Saturday night in Creemore, taking a 5-3 victory from the Coyotes, despite trailing for nearly the entire game.

Creemore grabbed the lead right off the bat, scoring 32-seconds into the game on a goal by Kyle Heitzner, who beat Winterhawks starter Jeff Flagler to make it 1-0 for the home side.

The Coyotes expanded their lead to 2-0 on a goal by Colin Kijowski at 11:20.

The Winterhawks had two power play opportunities late in the first period, but couldn't find the back of the net and trailed by a score of 2-0 after the first period.

Jay Thomson broke through for the Winterhawks at 5:56 of the second period, cutting the Creemore lead to 2-1 on a goal assisted by Michael Johnstone and James McHaig.

The Winterhawks battled for the equalizer, but it was Creemore who ended up extending their lead at 17:20 on a goal by Nick Sammons to give the Coyotes a 3-1 lead.

Mike Fiegehen answered back for the Winterhawks to keep them within striking distance, scoring from Lauchlin Elder and Miles MacLean with 14-seconds remaining in the second period to make it a 3-2 Creemore lead heading to the final frame.

The Winterhawks pushed hard for the equalizer and it finally came with 9:19 remaining, on a goal by MacLean, assisted by Brock Pinnell and Matt Shields.

The game appeared to be headed to overtime until Creemore was whistled for an ill-timed penalty with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

The power play capitalized this time around, with Lauchlin Elder burying the game-winning goal with 46-seconds remaining to give the Winterhawks a 4-3 lead.

McHaig added an empty netter moments later to make it a 5-3 victory for the Winterhawks.

Flagler picked up the win in goal for the Winterhawks. Shots on goal information was not available.

The win improves the Winterhawks to 7-4-1 on the season, with two more games next weekend.

They will be on the road next Saturday night, December 11th, when they visit the Lucknow Lancers at 7:30 p.m., before returning home for a Sunday matinee.

They will be hosting the reigning champions Clinton Radars on Sunday December 12th at 3:30 p.m. at The Plex.
