The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks finished off a weekend sweep of their Bruce County rivals with a win in Lucknow on Sunday afternoon.
Miles MacLean scored twice and added two assists as the Winterhawks cruised to a 6-2 win over the Lucknow Lancers.
Lucknow opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game on a goal by Evan Ducharme.
The Winterhawks answered back at 12:49 of the opening frame, with MacLean picking up his first of the night, from Luke Pither and Josh Hopkin to make it a 1-1 tie.
Matt Shields gave the Winterhawks a lead they would not relinquish two minutes later when he made it 2-1, with Mike Fiegehen and Brock Pinnell assisting.
That score held until early in the second period, when MacLean and Fiegehen scored power play goals two-and-a-half minutes apart to take full control of the game.
MacLean's marker came at 4:13 of the second, from Pither and James McHaig, while Fiegehen's goal came at 6:59, with assists from Shields and Andy Mitchell.
Lauchlin Elder added an even-strength marker of his own at 10:20, from MacLean and Medric Mercier to make it a 5-1 Winterhawks lead.
Lucknow answered back with one of their own to finish off the second period with a 5-2 score.
The third period was largely uneventful until the final minute, when Pither finished off the scoring from MacLean and Pinnell to make it a 6-2 final for the visitors.
Eric Peicheff picked up the win in the Winterhawks net.
The win improves the Winterhawks record to 7-3-1, capping off a four-point weekend with wins over both Bruce County rivals
after a 5-1 win in Ripley the previous night.
The Winterhawks return home for a pre-Christmas game with the Shelburne Muskies this Friday night, December 23rd with a special early 7:30 p.m. start time at The Plex.
