Dominant Win in Palmerston
Luke Pither and Justin Marlowe each had three points as the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks left little doubt in Palmerston on Saturday night.

The Winterhawks struck early and often, en route to a 7-3 victory over the talented Minto 81's.

An early power play bore fruit for the Winterhawks, with Pither connecting with the man-advantage at 4:49 of the first, with Josh Deyell picking up the assist.

Justin Marlowe continued his torrid start to the season, notching his 5th goal of the season at 17:41 of the first, from Dan Zweep and James McHaig.

A solid opening frame was concluded by Andy Fracz with 32-seconds left, making it 3-0 from Pither and Justin Donnelly.

Things got feisty at the end of the period, with a number of penalties called in the final few seconds.

Jordan Vanhaelemeesch added to the lead early in the second period, beating Minto goaltender Dan Dekoning at 4:20 of the middle frame, from Marlowe and Deyell.

Miles MacLean got in on the action just shy of three minutes later, converting from Marlowe to make it 5-0 Winterhawks, ending Dekoning's night as the ex-Owen Sound Attack goalie was replaced by Marc Williams in the Minto goal.

The 81's got on the board late in the period to send the Winterhawks to the third period with a 5-1 lead.

Pither continued the scoring for the visitors at 4:58, scoring unassisted to give the Winterhawks a 6-1 lead.

A bevy of Minto power plays followed the rest of the game, with the 81's using the advantage to make the score a more respectable 6-3 until Vanhaelemeesch scored shorthanded into the empty net to seal the 7-3 victory for the Winterhawks.

Jeff Flagler picked up the win in goal for the Winterhawks, shot totals were unavailable.

The win improves the Winterhawks record to 4-2-0 on the season, and they will be back home for their only home game in the month of November next Friday night, November 10th, when they host the Seaforth Centenaires.

Game time at The Plex is 8:30 p.m.
