The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks announced the hiring of former National Hockey League player Nathan Perrott as the team’s new head coach.
Perrott, 47, played 13 seasons of pro hockey, which included stints with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars of the NHL.
After hanging up his skates, the Chatsworth native stepped behind the bench with coaching roles with the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack, and most recently with the GOJHL’s St. Marys Lincolns from 2021-23.
“It’s invaluable to be able to bring in a coach like Nathan, with his experience and knowledge of the game,” said General Manager Ryan Brown. “We’re excited to have Nathan join our organization.”
Perrott is currently employed by Bruce Power as a firefighter and lives with his family in Paisley.
Joining Perrott on the bench are returning assistant coaches Jeff Barfoot and Richard Harris, as well as veteran forward Luke Pither, who will assume a player-coach role with the team.
Perrott takes over the helm from Ben Antler, who stepped down at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season after two seasons as head coach.
The 18th season of Winterhawks hockey gets underway this fall.
