A game that started off promising went off the rails in the 3rd period.
The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks dropped a 6-3 decision on Friday night to the visiting Erin Outlaws, who scored four unanswered goals in the 3rd period.
Halle and Tucker Scott dropped the puck on behalf of their grandfather Barry Kruisselbrink, founder and owner of game sponsor Barry's Construction.
Erin jumped out early, taking a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game.
The Winterhawks had power play opportunities after that, getting even at 9:45 when debuting Winterhawk Brock Perry converted when Luke Pither danced around the Outlaws PK and got the puck in front to Perry, who had an open net.
The Winterhawks held the 2-1 lead until early in the 2nd period, when Erin answered back on a power play of their own to even the score at 2-2.
The power play theme continued as Brent MacDermid scored at 13:50, when he picked up Pither's rebound to give the Winterhawks a 3-2 lead after two.
It was all Erin after that, as the Outlaws scored four goals in the third period to take a 6-3 victory.
Pither was named the Wismer House Player of the Game with two assists.
The Winterhawks head out on the road for a Voyago Road Trip tonight, October 26th, when they travel to Durham for a battle with their rival Thundercats, for a 6:00 p.m. start.
