Winterhawks Celebrate The Season
The bow was tied on the 2024-25 Saugeen Shores Winterhawks season.

The team held the annual awards banquet on Friday evening at Lakeshore Recreation.

The team not only handed out its team awards, but also presented several cheques to charities supported by the team throughout the season.

Every 50-50 draw during home games supports a local charity, and the team raised more than $6,600 for those charities during the season.

In addition, more than $500 was taken in as part of the Ristorante ROSINA power play contest, which will be donated to charity.

As a new arrangement this season, our friends at Saugeen Shores Special Olympics took over program sales at every home game, with all proceeds supporting our local Special Olympians.

The final tally saw Special Olympics take in $5,900.

All told - the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks are proud to have raised $13,000 this season, all for local registered charities.

Once the hardware was handed out, it was Andy Mitchell who took home the honours.

Mitchell is always the hardest working player on the ice, and this season, it paid off on the scoresheet, recording 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) in 17 games.

Mitchell took home the Most Valuable Player of the Regular Season, as well as shared the playoff leading scorer nod with Captain Miles MacLean, each recording 11 points in the postseason.

Luke Pither captured his first Leading Scorer Award for the regular season, notching 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) in 14 games.

Goaltender Clayton Fritsch picked up the 2025 Playoffs Most Valuable Player award, after putting on numerous outstanding performances between the pipes.

Other award winners were:

Top Defenceman Award: Medric Mercier
Best Defensive Player: Andy Fracz
Corry Solomway Memorial Award (Perseverance, Dedication, Sportsmanship): Justin Donnelly
Most Dedicated Winterhawk: Austin McLaren
Doug Wood Memorial Award (Community Service): Chad Jones & Eric Peicheff
Jim Little Memorial Award (Rookie of the Year): Josh Urbshott

The team also announced the departure of Head Coach Nathan Perrott, who has stepped down from the bench as he accepts a new hockey position in the United States. We thank Nathan for his contributions and commitment during the 2024-25 season and wish him the best of luck in his new role.

The search for a new Head Coach is currently underway.

The Winterhawks organization thanks all of our loyal fans and sponsors for their support this season and every season, we can't do it without them.
