Game 2 is Saturday evening in Tillsonburg at 7:30 p.m. The remainder of the series schedule will be finalized in the coming days.
The Winterhawks advanced to the final with a semi-final sweep of the Shelburne Muskies, while Tillsonburg roared back from a 3-1 series deficit, defeating the Erin Outlaws three times in as many days this past weekend to win in seven games.
This is the first meeting between the Winterhawks and Tillsonburg since they met in the first round of the 2020 playoffs.
The Winterhawks will be looking to keep the offence rolling, after scoring 37 goals in the four game sweep of Shelburne.
Winterhawks captain Miles MacLean enters the series tied for the OEHL playoff scoring lead, with 21 points in 8 games, with Brent MacDermid not far behind at 18 points.
Tillsonburg finished the season in 7th place in the South Conference with a record of 8-11-1, finishing the regular season strong with three wins in their final four games.
The Thunder ride with their goaltender, Ben Blacker, who has a reputation as one of the strongest netminders in the league.
Blacker recorded two shutouts during the regular season, and has an excellent .924 save percentage so far in the playoffs.
It's safe to say solving Blacker is one of the keys to success for the Winterhawks.
Games in Tillsonburg are expected to be live streamed on the
Thunder YouTube channel.
