Hawks fall in Shelburne
The Shelburne Muskies scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 victory over the visiting Winterhawks on Friday night.

Andy Mitchell opened the scoring in the 1st period, from Miles MacLean and Matt Shields.

Shelburne responded late in the 2nd to tie the game at 1-1, and an early power play in the 3rd period bore fruit as the Muskies pulled ahead 2-1.

Minutes later, the Muskies added an insurance marker to go ahead 3-1.

The loss settles the Sr. "AA" playoff picture to an extent, as the Winterhawks will slot in as the 3rd seed, and will face the 6th seed in the opening round of the playoffs.

Ripley will be 1st, Shelburne finishes 2nd and the Clinton Radars will face the Seaforth Centenaires as the 4th and 5th seeds.

The Winterhawks playoff opponent could be settled as early as Saturday evening. A Tillsonburg Thunder win over Elora would clinch the 6th seed and set up a first-ever meeting between the two teams.

The other playoff possibilities are the Durham Thundercats or Minto 81's who both have one game remaining, both against the Lucknow Lancers.

The Winterhawks finish off their regular season schedule with a game that has no impact on the standings, visiting the Ripley Wolves tonight [Saturday] at 5:00 p.m.
