Peicheff Shuts Out Coyotes
Eric Peicheff recorded a shutout as a shorthanded Winterhawks team grabbed a much-needed 2-0 road win over the Creemore Coyotes on Saturday night.

With 13 skaters available for the trip to Creemore, it was an all-hands on deck mentality for the visitors.

They were tested early, killing off a Creemore power play to open the game, as Peicheff held the Coyotes at bay.

After a Winterhawks power play of their own, Creemore had one more chance with the extra man, but the Winterhawks penalty killers held them off again to keep the score at zeroes after one period of play.

The Winterhawks struck in quick succession in the second period to jump out to a lead in the middle frame.

Miles MacLean notched his 6th goal of the year, from Mike Fiegehen and Josh Hopkin at 3:31 to open the scoring.

Lauchlin Elder followed it up just over two minutes later with a goal from MacLean and Hopkin to make it a 2-0 Winterhawks lead.

That lead held into the third period, when the Winterhawks couldn't convert on a pair of power play opportunities.

Creemore then had a pair of power plays of their own late in the third period, but Peicheff and the penalty killers came up huge to preserve the 2-0 victory for the Winterhawks.

The Winterhawks picked up three out of a possible four points in the weekend set with Creemore, and now have a record of 5-3-1 as they get set to hit the halfway point of their schedule next weekend.

It will be a pair of Bruce County road trips for the Winterhawks, who will travel to Ripley to face the Wolves on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m.

They'll turn around and head right back to Huron-Kinloss on Sunday afternoon, December 18th, when they face the Lucknow Lancers at 2:00 p.m.
