Winterhawks blank Muskies
Eric Peicheff recorded his second shutout of the season in a 6-0 road win in Shelburne on Saturday evening.

Despite some good chances early on, the Winterhawks couldn't solve Muskies netminder Malcolm Young early on, while Peicheff shut the door on Shelburne to keep it scoreless after the first period.

The Winterhawks solved Young early in the second period with Miles MacLean opening the scoring 59-seconds into the period, with Brent MacDermid and Lauchlin Elder adding assists to make it 1-0 'Hawks.

Matt Shields put the Winterhawks up 2-0 just 47-seconds later on a goal assisted by Brock Pinnell and Peicheff to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

Justin Donnelly added an unassisted marker at 7:16 to give the Winterhawks a 3-0 lead, which they would continue to hold on to after two periods.

The Winterhawks again came out quickly and stomped out any thought of a Shelburne comeback.

Andy Mitchell scored at 2:34 of the third from Jay Thomson and Nick Quaid to extend the lead to 4-0, followed quickly by Mike Fiegehen from Logan Freiburger and Shields just over two minutes later to make it 5-0.

Jamie Shoemaker finished off the scoring at 14:43 from Donnelly and Curtis Johnston to make it 6-0, while Peicheff shut the door the rest of the way to secure the shutout.

The win sets up a weekend finale with the Minto 81's at The Plex, with both teams entering the game with two wins each this weekend.

It's Minor Hockey Night, we're looking for the Saugeen Shores Storm team that shows the most team spirit will win a team practice with Winterhawks players.

As always, kids 10 & under are free with accompanying adult, but any player dressed in Storm gear 10 years of age and older will be admitted for free.

It's a 6:30 p.m. puck drop at The Plex.
