Tough Loss in Tavi
The Tavistock Royals scored four unanswered goals to take a 6-2 victory over the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks on Saturday night in Tavistock.

It was always going to be a tough task for the Winterhawks, taking on the defending champions in their own rink, compounded by having no fewer than six defencemen unavailable for the game.

Still, the Winterhawks made no excuses and battled all night long.

The Winterhawks controlled play early, but Tavistock scored early, notching a pair two minutes apart late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead to the dressing room.

There was plenty of fight in the Winterhawks, killing off a penalty to start the second period, followed by Logan Freiburger getting them on the board at 1:41, from Justin Marlowe and Andy Fracz.

Mike Fiegehen evened the scoring at 9:49 on an unassisted marker to make it a 2-2 game.

The Royals again scored a pair of goals late in the period, taking a 4-2 lead to the third period, despite the Winterhawks holding a 31-19 shots on goal advantage.

Tavistock put it away in the third, scoring twice again to take a decisive 6-2 final score. Jeff Flagler took the loss in goal for the Winterhawks, making 24 saves.

The Winterhawks continue their road schedule next weekend, albeit with a much shorter trip as they take on Bruce County rivals the Lucknow Lancers on Saturday night, November 25th, at 7:30 p.m.

Please note - the November 24th home game that appears on printed schedules has been cancelled and will not be played.
